- Italian seasoning, dried
- Garlic powder
- Smoked paprika

How to cook a whole chicken in an air fryer
Now I’ll walk you through my method for air frying a whole chicken so it turns out like slow roasted chicken.
- Preheat air fryer to 375°F.
- Brush whole chicken with olive oil. In a small bowl, mix together the seasonings and then rub them into the chicken, covering it completely with flavor.
- Spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray (optional). Add the seasoned whole chicken to the basket, chicken breast side down.
- Air fry the whole chicken for 45 minutes. Flip the chicken over using tongs. And air fry it for another 10-15 minutes, or until an instant read thermometer inserted in the thickest part of the chicken (the thigh, but not touching bone) reads a safe chicken temperature of 165°F. A note on the cooking time for air fryer whole chicken…
I tried a few different air fryer temperatures, including 350 degrees F, but found chicken did not dry out at a higher temperature of 375 degrees F as instructed in this recipe.
