Is Navy Federal offering $50 joining bonus? ›

Offer valid May 1 - May 31, 2024 and can expire anytime without prior notice. To receive the $50 bonus to your share savings account, you must 1) be 18 or older and eligible for membership, 2) join Navy Federal between 5/1/2024 and 5/31/2024, and 3) open a new Navy Federal credit card account within 14 days of joining.

As a Navy Federal member, you can share membership with your friends and family members. Eligible family members include your spouse, parents, siblings, grandparents, children, stepchildren and grandchildren.

So you're thinking of joining Navy Federal Credit Union? Good news. If you're a servicemember, veteran of any branch of the armed forces or a Department of Defense employee, then you're eligible to join. Your immediate family and household members are also eligible.

Future sailors and veterans must either enlist or reassess into active duty and ship out before the end of September to qualify. The Navy in February 2022 raised the maximum enlistment bonus to $50,000.

Family Members of Current Navy Federal Members: If you have a family member who is already a member of Navy Federal Credit Union, you may be eligible to join. Family members include parents, grandparents, spouses, siblings, children (including adopted and stepchildren), and household members.

Immediate family and household members (including roommates) of current Navy Federal members are eligible to join.

Navy Federal is better for in-person banking, with 350 branches worldwide compared to just four financial centers operated by USAA. That said, USAA's network of over 100,000 preferred ATMs with up to $10 in refund per statement cycle for non-preferred network ATMs is larger than Navy Federal's 30,000+ fee-free ATMs.

Navy Federal cardholders can add up to 4 authorized users per card.

What's the best credit union to join? ›

Enlistment Bonus

For a limited time, Active Duty Future Sailors who leave for boot camp before October 2024 may earn up to $140K. Reserve Duty Future Sailors may earn enlistment bonuses depending on their training program and ship date.

ENLISTMENT BONUS (EB) PROGRAM

The Enlistment Bonus (EB) is used to encourage initial enlistments in critical ratings, skills, or programs characterized by difficulty in attracting adequate accessions to meet accession objectives.

NAVY MEMBERS: You should receive your bonus installment payment on Oct. 1, which is the first day of the federal fiscal year. The Service Enlistment Bonus (SEB) is paid upon completion of training and may be paid in a single lump sum (USMC) or in periodic installments.

Qualified active duty recruits may be eligible for a combination of bonuses totaling up to $50,000. The maximum bonus for a three, four, five, or six-year contract is based on periodic updates and is subject to change.
